Jun refers to Aizawa as “bro” and doesn’t comprehend her feelings when she tells him she loves him. One day, Aizawa hopes to persuade him to think of her as a female. But how is that even possible for her?
Being a tomboy, I could perfectly identify with the feelings of the main character, which is why I fell in love with this manga right away.
The amusing friendship between the tomboy Aizawa and Jun is depicted in Tomo-chan Is a Girl. It’s more challenging for Aizawa to control her affection for Jun because he frequently touches her without recognizing that she’s an adult.
15. Teasing Master Takagi-San
Another one of the most endearing and morally upright rom-com manga that centers on teasing is undoubtedly this one.

The manga strikes the ideal blend between comedy and romance.
13. My Dress-Up Darling
This romance manga My Dress-up Darling is unlike any other. This comic is light and enjoyable because of the cosplay concept. You may watch Marin and Gojo working on a variety of cosplays together throughout the book, and Marin’s costumes are so good you’ll keep wanting to see more of them.
The artwork in this series is its strongest component. The artist has sketched the characters with exquisite detail and with a lot of care. Just take a look at Marin’s stunning eyes.
The characters go through a lot of growth, and when they work together, they emerge as happier and better versions of themselves.
12. Maid Sama!
Using the “maid” concept, Maid Sama! gives the manga more flavor and humor. In this manga, we get to meet several adorable maids, and the romance will warm your heart.
Usui is one of the best male leads in a romantic comedy manga, while Ayuzawa is a strong woman as opposed to the typical weak, reserved heroines.
The comic features funny scenes of Ayuzawa managing all the misbehaving school guys by herself and performing her duties as president in addition to depicting the romance between the main characters.
You will always cherish the Maid Sama! manga series. You won’t grow weary of reading it again and over again.
11. Horimiya
Horimiya depicts the people in both their private and public lives. Hori and Miyamura are similar to each other despite their initial differences since both of them strive to be themselves in front of others.

10. I Can’t Understand What My Husband Is Saying.
This rom-com manga is centered around a married couple; Kaoru, a serious office lady who is passionate about her job, and her spouse Hajime, who is on the opposite end of the spectrum: an introvert who is a hard-core otaku.
As a polar opposite, Kaoru finds it quite difficult sometimes to figure out what her husband says, or even thinks, as he has that otaku tongue going for him. She truly loves him, but this is an issue that, for many, can either make or break a relationship.
Viewing it from any angle, old or young, it gives us an interesting perspective on how people who are extreme opposites may be able to come to a compromise. It also makes us realise that no matter how weird or quirky we may be, there’s always someone out there to complement us. So to all fellow otaku reading this, don’t lose hope!
*The animated version of this show is highly recommended as the content is greatly expanded upon.
9. Toradora!
There’s just something about high-school romance that just gets people to keep watching, isn’t there? Much like a couple of other manga on this list, this rom-com manga features high-schoolers, mainly Taiga and Ryuji.
Ryuji is somewhat of a gentle giant, although his sharp eyes tell a different tale to onlookers. Taiga, on the other hand, seems to be quite negative towards people and also has a bad habit of lashing out violently at people.
These two misunderstood individuals have their own best friends, Yusaku and Aisaka, who constitute a little cozy friend group. After Ryuji discovers that Taiga has a crush on Yusaku, his best friend, and Taiga discovers Ryuji has the hots for Aisaka, the two set aside their differences and decide to act as wingmen to help each other get their dream matchups.
The two begin plotting and scheming, creating wacky romance scenarios and comedic plots, but most of them fail to make the expected impacts. As a result, they spend an awful lot of time together, to the point that rumours of them dating started spreading.
Although they both deny the odd rumours, they do enjoy each other’s company, and a sort of silent love/appreciation begins to brew between them. In the end, you could say they did get their dream matchup; it was just right under their noses! But will they ever acknowledge that?
8. Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon-Maid.
Unlike the other contenders on this list, this manga features two main characters who aren’t both human: Kobayashi, a human and Tohru, who is a shapeshifting dragon. Tohru, growing up in a world of dragons, had observed that there was always a sentiment of hatred towards humans.
In her quest to live a free and impartial life, she decides to go and battle god, who she believes is in control of the dragon society, in order to get answers. Sadly for her, she ends up brutally injured with a sword in her side, and unconscious.
She wakes up in the human world to a drunk Kobayashi, who does her the favour of removing the oversized sword from her side. This great act of kindness is unexpected from the humans Tohru has been told about, and it instantly tickles her heart.
She decides to follow Kobayashi, and in turn stay with her, in order to study her and the human race as an extension, learning about true love along the way. She leads the way for a multitude of other dragons to come to earth, and all sorts of relationships ensue.
7. Tsurezure Children.
This popular romantic comedy manga, A.K.A Tsuredure Children, has a very simple premise: It’s all about Young Love. We’ve all been there (most of us, at least). It’s about watching young high schoolers venturing into the world of love, and taking awkward first steps in various directions.
Is holding hands weird? Do I smell okay? Would it be uncool if I said I like them? Many obstacles may spring up when dealing with romantic attraction, and these children are here to show us all about it.
Following them on their embarrassing but extremely comedically relatable journeys, one can only realise that underneath all that, young love is something truly beautiful to behold, leading to brand new experiences for those young and in love.
6. Baka to Test to Shokanjuu.
Alternatively, but less popularly known as Baka And Test, this rom-com manga sets the spotlight on Akihisa Yoshii; a lovable idiot with a heart of gold, and his large group of comrades of sorts. Fumizuki Academy has a peculiar student-sorting system.
After their freshman year, they are split into classes named from A-F based on their performance. Unfortunately for Akihisa, he and most of his squad fall into Class F, which is the lowest of the low.
As the bottom dwellers, they are served with the worst facilities: broken chairs, worn-out boards, you name it. One of the school’s greatest geniuses, Mizuki Himeji, also ends up in that class, for being ill on the exam day and bagging a 0.
Rallying behind Akihisa, Class F decides to fight to ascend the class ladder and get better facilities for their sakes (and for Himeji’s health) by using the school’s unique Examination Summon Battle system, where the power of your summoned creature is equivalent to your test scores!
At least now there’s a reason to study! Chock-full of romance, bursting at the seams with comedy and glorious storytelling, this is definitely a story you shouldn’t miss in your lifetime, readily available in stunning animation.
5. Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki.
Our fifth contender among our best rom-com manga is Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki. Also known as Low-Tier Character Tomozaki, this rom-com manga is an immediate seller to gamers and less socially vibrant people.
The story focuses on Tomozaki, who is a high school student and is ranked #1 on the online leaderboard of the popular game “Attack Families” going by the username “nanashi”. He sees this game as a top-tier game which is perfectly balanced, anyone can excel and no one has an initial advantage over another.
In contrast, he detests real life and considers it a trash game. One day, after facing off against the #2 ranked player, “NO NAME” they agree to meet up in person. Upon doing this, he discovers that NO NAME is actually a popular classmate of his, Aoi Hinami.
This meeting gives way to a story of self-improvement for Tomozaki. Helped by Hinami, he tries to change his outlook on life, improve his social status, and also get a girlfriend. Remember this is a shut-in we’re talking about, so obviously, comedy ensues! This manga is blessed with both a beautifully written light novel and a feisty anime adaptation! So make your pick!
4. Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro.
This rom-com manga plays into the trope of “ If they pick on you so much, they probably have a thing for you”. This manga’s romance stars Nagatoro and Naoto, popularly known as “Senpai”. Naoto is a second-year high schooler who prefers spending time alone and often draws manga in his free time.
Nagatoro, an outgoing first-year high schooler, discovers his manga and teases him to the point where he cries. She then makes it a habit of hers to consistently visit the Art club, where Naoto resides, to bully him for his interests, sometimes in a flirtatious or suggestive way.
This chaotic relationship soon blossoms into a comedic but unspoken romance, as the two subtly develop feelings for each other.
As proof that this is one of the best rom-com manga, this series has been blessed with a lavishly animated anime, only increasing its already heightened popularity.
3. Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!
Much like the previous title on this list, this rom-com manga features two schoolgoers, but this time at the university level. Uzaki, the female lead, is thrilled to find out she’s attending the same college as her former high school upperclassman, Sakurai.
After watching him from afar, something seems off though…. Sakurai seems to be a loner! How lame! With the goal of trying to help Sakurai break free from his introverted lifestyle (which is totally uncool by the way), Uzaki decides to spend as much time with Sakurai as possible.
That could even mean sleeping over. Over time, the sussy shenanigans seem to take a toll on both of them, and love begins to wedge its way between them. Even so, getting them together can’t be as easy as that, can it? You shouldn’t be surprised that Uzaki got her very own anime adaptation as well. (Hooray!)
2. Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku.
School environments are probably the best milieus for otaku. You can show off your geekiness, easily find fellow weebs and just let yourself go. But what happens when you have to grow up and be a functional adult in an actual workplace? You don’t have to imagine, Wotakoi is here to illustrate that!
Ranking 2nd on our list of best rom-com manga; Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku, is a rom-com manga that sets the spotlight on Narumi; who is a fujoshi otaku, loves otome games and idols, and Hirotaka; Narumi’s childhood friend, who is a skilled and very attractive avid gamer otaku.
Both of them are adult salarymen but decide to handle their otaku sides very differently. Narumi does her absolute best to hide her otaku side at work, contrary to Hirotaka who doesn’t care at all and wears it on his sleeve.
The two decide to give dating a shot, but of course, ‘Love is Hard for Otaku’. If you’re reading this and you’re an otaku, you know how it goes. This popular romantic manga is presently accompanied by its own anime adaptation, in case of interest.
1. Kaguya-sama : Love is War!
Shinomiya, Shuchiin Academy’s student council vice president, was born into a wealthy family, and could probably buy a country for her birthday. Shirogane, the student council president on the other hand, hails from a less fortunate family but is the top student at the school, renowned across the prefecture.
The two are not only a perfect fit for each other, but they’ve equally got the hots for each other. That should make things simple…. right?
This rom-com manga features some of the most outlandish plotting and scheming in entertainment history, as Shirogane and Shinomiya are just too proud to confess to each other. What they’d rather do, however, is do everything in their power to make the other confess, or show signs of affection.
What we get as a result is a masterpiece of mental gymnastics, and a lot of laughs, as the two parties brave it through the ‘war’. If you snooze, you lose! Endowed with a well-animated adaptation, this good rom-com manga just couldn’t get any better!
So there you have it! This is our starter pack of the best romantic comedy manga to begin your journey. The best rom-com manga for top-tier readers such as yourselves.
