Being possibly the most iconic anime of this era of anime, it is definitely a top rated anime. It has components of mystery, horror and philosophy but it delivers excellently in terms of action.
In the story, the first man-eating Titans came 100 years ago, people found refuge behind huge walls that prevented the giants from advancing further.
But when a massive Titan bursts through the defenses, bringing a flood of the giants into what had been the humans’ safe zone, their long-held safety is put in jeopardy. Soldier Eren Jaeger vows to kill every Titan after witnessing one of the Titans consume his mother during the subsequent devastation.
The group of companions he recruits to assist him is humanity’s last chance to prevent extinction at the hands of the monsters.
Scoring a 9/10 rating on IMDb and IGN, and scoring 96% on RottenTomatoes, it definitely deserves its spot on this list.

Gintama
Gintama is a long-standing entry on the list of top-rated anime shows for beginners, it has great action scenes and is light-hearted with great comedy. It however addresses real-world issues of oppression and delivers an exceptional protagonist.
The protagonist of Gintama is a handyman named Gintoki, a samurai who disregards the laws established by the invaders and is willing to do any task in order to survive. However, he and his group are also among the very few who have not lost sight of a swordsman’s spirit.
Everywhere they go, they only cause problems.
This anime scores a 9/10 rating on MyAnimelist and 8.7/10 on IMDb.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood: One of the Top-Rated Classic Anime Shows for Befinners
Airing as far back as 2009, few anime that have been released after FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood can compare with it. With a somewhat complicated plot covered with mystery, it delivers excellently in terms of action and comedy.
In this story, a fatal illness claims the mother of two brothers. They employ “alchemy’s” power to revive her using secret information. Alphonse Elric, the younger brother, loses his entire body, while Edward Elric, the older brother, loses his left leg as a result of the process failing.
By sacrificing his right arm, Edward is able to attach his brother’s soul to a set of armor in order to save his sibling.
A family friend helps Edward get new metal limbs to replace his missing ones. With that, Edward makes a promise to find the Philosopher’s Stone in order to give the brothers their original bodies, even if it means enlisting in the military as a “State Alchemist ” who utilizes alchemy for the purpose of warfare.
Its ratings are as good as it gets, scoring a rare 100% on RottenTomatoes, and 9.1/10 on IMDb and MyAnimeList. We just couldn’t leave this one out of our list of top-rated anime shows for beginners.

Code Geas: Lelouch of the Rebellion
If you have a taste of deep-rooted plots with tons of mysteries, tactics and counter-tactics, this is definitely the show for you. Added to the great plot, there are giant robots and shooting scenes that make it a top-rated anime show for beginners.
The story centers on the exiled prince Lelouch vi Britannia, who receives the “power of ultimate obedience” from a character called C.C.
He leads an uprising against the government of the Holy Britannian Empire while orchestrating a string of mecha fights using this supernatural ability known as Geass. As he begins the second semester, he continues to interact with a wide range of individuals, broadening his own universe in the process. Additionally, the intimacy in Tomoya and Nagisa’s relationship begins to grow.
Tomoya learns the value of and the significance of family through his interactions with Nagisa and other people. Unfortunately, Tomoya and Nagisa encounter numerous difficulties and obstacles as they start their own family. It is so well written and holds the viewer’s emotions easily.
It scored 8.6/10 on IMDb and 8.9/10 on MyAnimeList.
