Under the gate, you will find a stone sculpture depicting the goddess Benzaiten and a dragon. It is said that the area was once plagued by relentless storms caused by a five-headed dragon. The goddess Benzaiten touched the surface of the sea to stop the suffering hence creating Enoshima Island.

Katase Higashihama Beach
It is the oldest sea bathing beach in Japan since the Meiji era. This beach is equally among the 88 best beaches in Japan. There are 19 toilets at this beach and the swimming season runs from the 1st of July to the 31st of August.
